Dear Scouts families,

On Saturday 20 June, Scouts will be heading out for an overnight hike to Kingfisher Pools.

Scouts will meet at Sydenham train station at 10.00am.

The Scouts attending will hike into the campsite, set their own camps and cook both dinner and breakfast as part of the adventure. Dinner and breakfast will be provided, and the meals will be prepared by the scouts themselves under supervision. Scouts will need to bring their own lunch for Saturday. 

We will do some planning on Wednesday the 17th. If scouts are plnning to take their own tent or cooking gear they should bring it to that meeting so we can make sure it's suitable.

The packing list for the overnight hike is:

• Backpack, lined with a garbage bag.
• Hiking tent (if they have one; otherwise group tents will be available)
• Sleeping bag (it might be cold so a sleeping bag liner is advised)
• Sleeping mat. A simple closed cell foam mat is fine.
• Waterproof and windproof jacket.
• Warm jacket (e.g. synthetic fleece, not cotton)
• Mess kit (bowl, fork)
• Head torch

• Hat (not a baseball cap)

• Gas cooker (if they have one)
• 2 litres of water. Not cordial or soft drink. (soft drink bottles are fine for this)

• Fleece or wool beanie to wear at night

• Warm clothes to sleep in, e.g. polypropylene thermals, not cotton track pants.

Scouts will return to Sydenham station around 10.00 am on Sunday. A WhatsApp message will be sent to parents on the way confirming the exact time. 

The cost of the camp is $20 per Scout.
