If you have a question not covered on this page, contact your Leader for help.

Question Answer
What does my child need to do to earn a Special Interest Area (SIA) badge?

Special Interest Areas encourage Scouts from all sections to try new challenges plus pursue existing interests to greater depths. Scouts set their own goals, enabling them to design a project that interests and challenges them personally.

Several documents, published by Scouts Australia, can be found on the following page: Achievement Pathways (scouts.com.au)

Key documents you should check out include:

  • Adults Guide to Special Interest Areas
  • Special Interest Area Factsheet
  • SIA Flowchart (a great tool to help your child identify a Special Interest Area that is good for them)
  • Special Interest Area Planning Tool (a great tool to actually plan their Special Interest Area)
